Rabbit Trails

LIGHT BULB MOMENT
I love how, in 1 Chronicles 15:13 David and the rest of the people are finally stepping back, looking at their history, and realizing that details matter to YHWH. He would not go to the trouble of giving us the details if they were not important.

WOW! Did you catch that?
1 Chronicles 15:26 -The ark was no lightweight object. It is estimated that it weighed approximately 615 pounds. With four men carrying it on poles, that would be a burden of about 160 pounds per man. This ark was carried for some distance, in parade like fashion, and no doubt the trip was slow. We can only imagine what a burden that would be after a time under normal circumstances.
But did you catch that?
Did you see that little statement within the sentence on 1 Chronicles 15:26?

“…YHWH helped the Levites who were carrying the ark…”

When He assigns work to us and we move to carry it out, He puts His strength into it. All that we are not capable of, He has every intention of covering for us. Do not be overwhelmed when the Father lays out something before you that is beyond your ability. He handles the heavy lifting!

1 Chronicles 15:14-28 What rejoicing!
Doesn’t it just make your heart leap for joy to read about Believers honoring the Father? I feel like we need a parade!

David’s song 1 Chronicles 16:8-36
What a wondrous song! Every word should be read and taken to heart.
Forever.
Everlasting.
It applies to us today. I started to put the whole thing in here but that would make for one long note so I’m just gonna let y’all read it in your Bibles ?

Sidenote: Can you imagine missing out on all of this? It’s horrifying to think that, throughout history, movements have risen up in Christianity that would edit down the Bible, removing most of what is referred to as “old testament” today. Alongside (and very much part) this movement is to leave these books in but discourage reading them. Many of these movements never completely died and new ones are rising up each day.
Recently, I had a friend who realized she had never read the Bible in its entirety and so on her 40th birthday she made a goal of doing just that. She began in Genesis and was doing great, so excited and learning so much. The head pastor in her very large church asked how she was doing a few weeks later and she excitedly told him of her goal and progress. His reply? He looked at her in dismay and said “Oh, don’t do that to yourself! Just start in Matthew.”

If we had listened to persuasion like that, we would have missed this.
We must read it.

We must study it.

We must learn it.

We must cherish these precious words that our Father gifted to us.

1 Chronicles 17:1 Note that when David saw that his needs were cared for, he didn’t seek glory, wealth for his children, etc. Instead he sought for more ways to honor and serve God.

1 Chronicles 17:5 But it is interesting to note that YHWH was content with not having a fine temple. He was happy to dwell among His people, seeing them in well built cities and cared for. This is something to hold up alongside our culture today when it comes to pomp, circumstance and show vs sincere, humble worship of the Father.

Did you see the prophecy of Messiah in 1 Chronicles 17:11-15? Messiah is foreshadowed, mentioned, and alluded to from Genesis on!

“There is none like you, O LORD, and there is no God besides you…” – 1 Chronicles 17:20

Test everything, hold tight to what is good.~ 1 Thess 5:21

We are saved by Grace alone: Obedience is not the root of our salvation, it is the fruit!

May YHWH bless the reading of His Word!
