 I’m sharing more of Aletha Karen Bass‘s notes with you! She has some wonderful insight that I know you will enjoy.

~~~~~From Aletha~~~~~~
As I’ve been reading in Joshua, I’ve tried to be in the “happenings” as they move into the promised land. As I read, my heart soared at Jericho & Ai. Through all the battles, I’ve felt the exultation that came from seeing a long held promise fulfilled. (I’ve always loved history & would do this type of study technique.) It’s a thrilling time. Imagine you are marching around Jericho, for example. Around the town you go each day for 6 days, one time a day. On the 7th day, you go around 7 times. Then with a great shout, the walls come down. Can you picture it? Now, take up residence in Jericho & climb up on the wall. Watch the Israelites circle the city each day. Can you feel what the inhabitants must have felt? Be on the wall, watching on the 7th day. Imagine seeing all the Israelites circling the towns 7 times. Can you imagine the feeling of the residents? They had to have been terrified! Imagine being in the home of Rahab, knowing what was happening.
I can put myself into the camps as the land is being divided to the tribes. There is fighting to be done, yes, & hard work to come, but can you feel the anticipation? They are HOME despite the work to be done! There was jubilation mixed with other emotions.
Have you ever been on a trip only to come home? What do you feel when you return from your trip? I feel jubilation that I’m home & relief that traveling is over. Or you are moving into a new home. What emotions fill you? Joy? Worry over the work, the struggle to settle in? Thankfulness?
I imagine all these emotions were present. I also think that there was gratitude beyond imagination in the people as they realized the end to wandering & the fulfillment of God’s promises.
~~~~~ End Aletha’s notes~~~~

I had a lot of folks ask about the Wholehearted verses I used in my coffee chat that I shared yesterday. I’m going to list them below and I challenge you to set aside some time, look each up, and underline whatever word your Bible uses for Wholehearted.

2022 Addendum: I woke up at 2 this morning thinking of how nice it would be to have these in a downloadable document. As I type this, it’s 3:23 and I’m uploading the document now! This is a great one to print out and keep handy for encouragement and a reminder of how important being wholehearted is. I hope you have a wonderful week, filled with Shalom!
