My Time on The Porch

In December, it will be that time again to open up the “door” here on The Front Porch. What’s the porch you ask? Well, let me just share a little bit about it. You see, the Front Porch is a family of believers just like yourself, who have decided to join the Seeking Scripture bible study that opens up just once a year. This bible study is unique all its own, as it is made up of over 30k different denominations and non-denominational believers and followers of YHWH (God) and Yeshua (Jesus).

Each year at the beginning of December, we open the doors to the Front Porch/Seeking Scripture bible study for a brief time to allow new folks like yourself join us in reading the bible front to back from Genesis to Revelation. We read several chapters each day and along the way, our sister and founder, Christy Jordan post notes (both text and recorded), where she helps explain what each chapter means and explains (with a deep country accent) in detail what has helped her and/or what YHWH has given her to share with the rest of us.

Each day, us “porchlings”, as we are sometimes referred to, can post our comments about whatever we are led to say. It may be just a greeting of sorts, which I personally try to do on a daily basis. The point is that WE have a voice on The Porch. Obviously, we are always kind, loving and respectful to one another. That is just ONE of many things that I love about this bible study.

The people here at Seeking Scripture/ Front Porch Fellowship are the most loving, sweet, thoughtful and kind folks that you’ll ever have the honor and privilege to get to know. Some, you will even get to meet through our local activities or get-togethers we have through the year. They aren’t any different in person either. Just a bunch of wonderful people who love YHWH and Yeshua and who want to get to know other believers that they will be spending eternity with.

This is my first year and I have made so many friends already and feel like we are all part of the same family. We sometimes refer to each other as sibs, siblings, or family because after all, we are all brothers and sisters in Christ the Messiah.

When I first joined, I was hesitant right off the bat after realizing that a woman of all people was leading this thing. You see, I was raised Southern Baptist and grew up believing that a woman was to be silent in church nor were they ever to lead or teach over any men there. I don’t know if ALL Southern Baptist churches were that way or just the one that I attended back then but it had stuck with me for so many years.

It did not take me long to notice that this woman knew a heck of a lot more about the bible than I did and that I could learn a great deal from her if given the chance. So, I did.  I have learned a lot and I am not closed minded like I was previously.

Another great thing about this group and this study is that no one will EVER expect your walk to look like their walk.  Everyone has made me feel welcomed, loved, accepted and appreciated here at Seeking Scripture. And if that wasn’t already enough, you will have so many Prayer Warriors in your corner that you will never have to face a battle alone. There is even a separate section just for prayer if you ever need to submit a prayer request or if you would just like to pray for others in the group. Do you write or would like to write? There are opportunities for that as well. That is how I became one of the current authors on Seeking Scripture.

In closing, I have changed in so many ways since joining this wonderful group. First of all, like I stated earlier, I am no longer closed minded and now I’m open to see whatever YHWH opens my eyes and heart to. Secondly, I have learned that we can’t have a second hand relationship with the Father and I have learned that studying with thousands of other believers and followers of Yeshua has helped me grow spiritually by leaps and bounds. My own Wife has seen a change in me and is planning to join us this next go around.

YHWH is doing great and mighty things with this bible study, Christy and the rest of the staff, along with each individual here who will allow Him to work in their lives. If you’re comfortable with a stale and boring life; then this isn’t the place for you. However, if you want to grow in your faith and your journey with Yeshua, come on in and join us. We’d love to have you. Just pull up a seat here on The Porch and be amazed how your life will be transformed.

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.   Hebrews 10: 24-25

About the Seeking Scripture Team: We are a group of believers from all walks of the faith, saved by grace alone through faith in our Messiah. While we are of one accord in many things, we are all works in progress and lifelong learners. Therefore the opinions of one may not always represent the opinions of all.
