Good Morning, Siblings!
Today’s readings are Proverbs 10-12

Above is a photo of just two of the pages in my Bible from today’s reading. All of those notes and markings were done on my first pass. All this to say, we could spend a lifetime reading Proverbs over and over and still glean more wisdom each time. It is my sincere hope that we will dedicate ourselves to doing that for the entirety of YHWH’s Word. He is worthy.

Highlights:

10:8 The wise of heart receive commandments. Some translations say “accept commands”, “are glad to be instructed”, etc. The key here is that a wise person seeks wisdom and so they see that wisdom as a gift and are humble enough to accept it.

Proverbs 10:14 The wise lay up knowledge…

What is the best way to lay up knowledge? STUDY YHWH’S WORD! We study it now to use in the future, storing away His wisdom so that we can apply it throughout our lives.

Proverbs 10:19-20

When words are many, transgression is not lacking,
but whoever restrains his lips is prudent.
20 The tongue of the righteous is choice silver;
the heart of the wicked is of little worth.

As we discussed yesterday, lashon hora (or evil tongue) is one of the things the Father detests. A wise person restrains his lips, guards his words, and make sure that what he does speak is honoring to the Father.

Is it difficult controlling your tongue? If you’ve never done it, yes. However, once you make it a daily practice it gets easy pretty quick. Remember, one of the signs of our covenant with YHWH is that He puts His spirit within us and causes us to WANT to obey Him.

Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. Ezekiel 36:25-27

If you don’t feel a desire to walk in the obedience with the Father, bring that before Him today and talk it out.

A few other things and I’ll cut these notes short as proverbs really does speak for itself.

Where does our delight reside? Do we delight in walking in His ways, in studying His wisdom, and in pleasing Him?

Or do we delight in neglecting His word, choosing our wisdom over His, and pleasing ourselves?

The world has taught us many things which are a direct counterfeit to YHWH’s way. When we set our hearts on following YHWH, that same world will work harder still to turn us back. This can manifest itself in a “close enough” mentality or a “newer and better way” being presented, both of these contradict the Bible. In these instances, whose wisdom do we fall back on? Because the world’s way will inevitably be the most familiar and most comfortable so we need to be aware and alert to that going in.

But for a child of the king, our souls can only find peace on that journey that He will lead us on.

Be strengthened. Be encouraged. Wherever He leads, set your heart to follow.

This is what YHWH says, “Stand at the crossroads and look. Ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls.  Jeremiah 6:16

Test everything, hold tight to what is good.~ 1 Thess 5:21

We are saved by Grace alone: Obedience is not the root of our salvation, it is the fruit!

May YHWH bless the reading of His Word!
