Ricky Jordan discusses the impact of choosing to respond with grace.

Today I want to talk about the difference between responding and reacting- particularly in the life of a Believer.
You see, life throws all sorts of curveballs our way – unexpected situations, challenging people, and difficult circumstances. It’s easy to let our emotions take the wheel and react impulsively.

But as Believers, we’re called to something greater. Think about it. Jesus himself faced countless trials and provocations during his time on earth. But how did He respond? With love, compassion, and wisdom. He didn’t let anger or fear dictate his actions. Instead, he showed us the power of responding with grace.

But how often do we find ourselves in situations where our first instinct is to react defensively or out of frustration? Maybe it’s a disagreement with a friend, a misunderstanding at work, or even a personal setback. In any trying or stressful moment, it is paramount that we take the time to consider how to respond in a way that maintains the integrity of our faith and brings honor to our Father.

Responding, rather than reacting, is about embodying the fruits of the Spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. It’s about pausing to pray for guidance and seeking God’s wisdom before we speak or act.

And you know what’s amazing? When we choose to respond with grace, we not only honor God, but we also have the opportunity to positively impact those around us. Our words and actions can be a shining light in a world that desperately needs more hope and kindness.

I want to encourage you to make a commitment – to yourself and to our God – to cultivate a heart that responds with grace in every situation life throws our way. We should never be known for our quick tempers or harsh words, but for our love, our compassion, and our unwavering trust in the hand of our Father. Until next time, go forth and serve Him well!
