Did Joseph really do divinations in his cup?

The context of us being told this is during a time in which Joseph is pretending to be Egyptian in front of his brothers. Divination was a common practice among Egyptians and it was recorded that members of nobility had cups like this. Joseph was likely gifted this one as a special honor, but we have no evidence to suggest he used it for this purpose.

Even among non-Eqyptians, this cup would have been seen as incredibly valuable both financially and spiritually, making it the perfect small object to have embedded in order to set his brothers up for the fruition of his plan.

However, we are given no reason to believe that Joseph was ever unfaithful to YHWH throughout the text so it is more likely that this was part of his ruse to continue being seen as a true Egyptian until the time was right.
