Rabbit Trails

Here are some quick notes:

Psalm 80: Some are of the opinion that this psalm speaks to the division of the tribes of Israel, whereas some of the tribes remain faithful, others do not. The passage shows a grieving for lost brethren and a hope that they will all return to the Father. You know the Father is still feeling that today. May we each be bridge builders to bring others back to Him – after making sure that we’ve crossed that bridge ourselves!

Psalm 81:10 is actually a quote. This is the first statement from what we consider today to be the Big Ten. Check it out in Exodus 20 but while you’re there, try to take time to read that whole chapter in Exodus again. It bears repeating for us always. Most Believers agree that we should be walking in obedience to these commandments directly from the Father.

Psalm 81:11-16 OH my heart! We could read this to every generation and it would be true, but how much more so is it today!

“But my people did not listen to my voice; Israel would not submit to me.
So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts, to follow their own counsels.
Oh, that my people would listen to me, that Israel would walk in my ways!
I would soon subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their foes.
Those who hate the LORD would cringe toward him, and their fate would last forever.
But he would feed you with the finest of the wheat, and with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”

Psalm 82 sounds confusing at first but it is believed by some that the author is using the term “gods” to describe the corrupt officials of Israel, who unjustly govern over God’s people. The statement “God has taken his place in the divine council, in the midst of the gods he holds judgement” is then referring to God judging standing in the midst of these officials, watching their deeds, and judging them for their actions.

Psalm 84 is a soul refresher!?

Psalm 85 is a beautiful psalm of repentance from a people who are turning back to YHWH and are assured of His grace towards them due to the sincerity of their turning.

I hope you are having a WONDERFUL week with lots of Shalom in your home!!!!

Test everything, hold tight to what is good.~ 1 Thess 5:21

We are saved by Grace alone: Obedience is not the root of our salvation, it is the fruit!

May YHWH bless the reading of His Word!
