Aliisa reminds us that faith means trusting God’s timing – and even when it isn’t our timing.

Walk by Faith
Have you ever doubted something the Father told you because it didn’t happen quickly or easily? I’m not sure where we get the ideaÂ
that if we are walking in the will of the Father,  we won’t have any doubts or difficulties. Because this simply isn’t true. Sometimes, the father calls us to do things that feel so difficult we can’t even imagine being able to follow where He is leading.Â
Many years ago, a few of our friends decided to move to Costa Rica. When they told us, my husband looked at me and said, “I think the Father is also telling us that we’re supposed to move, too.” Y’all, I felt like someone had punched me in the gut. The idea of moving out of the country was terrifying, and I didn’t see how we could ever make it happen.Â
I felt a little like Gideon as I began to pray for the Father to confirm this for me. I needed peace and understanding. I needed the Father to show me that we were supposed to go, but He didn’t and so they moved, and we stayed. Â
However, after they moved, we visited them, and as I looked around that country I just knew that my husband had been right. We were supposed to move, too. When we got back home, we began the enormous task of selling our belongings we wouldn’t be able to take with us and getting our house ready to sell. Of course, we expected this to happen quickly, because it was the Father’s will, but it didn’t.
As the months slowly passed, I wondered if it wasn’t happening because of my lack of faith, my own need for reassurance from the Father. But throughout this process, anytime one of us would doubt that we had heard the Father correctly, he would give strength and assurance to the other. We knew, then, that we just had to be patient.Â
Sometimes it was hard to keep the faith, but we continued to remind each other that the Father had a plan. The only thing we had to do was walk by faith. We learned that this was definitely more difficult than it sounds. When things don’t happen in the way or time that we think they should, doubt creeps in and we can allow ourselves to become discouraged. This happened time and again, but the Father allowed us to strengthen one another.Â
However, a year after our initial trip to Costa Rica, our house sold and we made the move. While it was probably a blink of an eye for the Father, it felt like an eternity to us. Â
Psalm 130:5 says: I wait for the Lord, my soul does wait, And in His word do I hope.
And in Psalm 27:14 we read: Wait for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord.
There are many lessons that the Father taught me during our 5-year stay in Costa Rica, but the most important one is that He is always faithful to do what He says He will do; our job is to be patient and to walk in faith.
Until next time, remember, if you seek Him, he will be found.
